This sweet dog named Belinha had been inseparable from her owner and closest friend Telma Maria for the past four years. Recently, their time together was cut short, but Belinha’s affection for her owner persists.
Maria, who resided in Brazil, passed away earlier this month after a protracted battle with illness. Throughout her difficult battle and deteriorating health, Belinha never left Maria’s side, and the dog’s presence comforted her.
Dionsio Neto, the son of Maria, stated online, “My mother indicated that she was her nurse.” Belinha was the most loyal of friends.
Given the significance of Belinha in Maria’s life, it was only logical for her to attend her funeral. Belinha sat somberly with other family members, as if she understood the gravity of the somber gathering.
However, what transpired next had the greatest impact on Maria’s son.
Belinha stunned everyone by remaining by Maria’s side for the remainder of the service, just as she had done whenever Maria was alive. Neto wished to photograph these delicate moments and wrote:
“Animals are unconditional affection.”
Belinha continued to cry after the ceremony, lamenting Maria’s absence frequently. In an effort to comfort the dog, Neto and a few family members consented to show Belinha where her best friend now resides; the visit appeared to calm her.
Belinha broke free from her leash at the cemetery and raced straight to Maria’s grave, despite the fact that she had not been there when she was laid to rest. Neto was once again moved to see that the bond between his mom and her dog remained unbroken, telling the newspaper Estadão:
“Even in mortality, my mother has taught me that love is not limited to human beings. My mother and Belinha demonstrate that animal affection is more potent than many believe.”
Belinha’s heart will begin to mend over time, knowing that Maria is never far away. Now that Belinha has a permanent home with Neto, she will not have to endure the grieving process alone.
