Once a feral cat struggling to survive while losing her eyesight, Skye was rescued by a team of individuals who found her in the woods. They not only saved her life, but also those of her four unborn kittens. Now safe and sound, Skye is ready to start a new chapter in her life.
A stunning calico had made her home in a wild colony situated in Ft. Langley, British Columbia for as long as she could remember. One day, the kind-hearted volunteers at TinyKittens Society noticed that the cat’s belly was slowly growing and her eyes were becoming cloudy, indicating that she was unwell and required urgent medical attention. Without hesitation, they decided to step in and provide the necessary assistance.
The cat was extremely shy and anxious around humans, was with kittens, and couldn’t clearly see due to untreated viral sores in both eyes. TinyKittens Society said, “She came to us as a feral, pregnant, and almost blind cat,” and we knew that attempting to care for a feral, pregnant cat would not be easy, but we had to try.”
It was evident that the mother and her kittens would have little chance of survival if left alone in the wild, thus they took her in, treated her eyes, and provided a secure environment for her to deliver her babies.
Upon arrival, Skye exhibited the typical fear of humans that feral cats often display. However, as she received assistance and care from the individuals at the location, her demeanor began to shift. The volunteer from TinyKittens observed that Skye gradually became more comfortable with their presence, even allowing them to pet and feed her. Skye even ate in front of the volunteer and displayed positive body language, such as purring and raising her tail when being petted.
Much to everyone’s surprise, Skye quickly grew fond of her human companions and began to enjoy lounging in the sink of her private quarters at TinyKittens. However, little did they know that Skye would require an emergency C-section to save her life and her four kittens: Belfast, Kohler, Justin, and Farrah Fawcett. The adorable litter was born healthy, much to their mother’s delight.
According to a caregiver’s update, Mama Skye has been very cooperative and allowing us to administer medications and handle her kittens for weighing and monitoring. This is quite impressive considering she used to be a feral cat. One can see her enjoying some head scratches while keeping a watchful eye over her babies.
After being diagnosed with congestive heart failure, the ER vets advised putting Skye down as they had never been aware of a cat as unwell as her being adopted. However, TinyKittens chose not to give up on her because she deserved another shot at life.
Snuggling up with her adorable little ones, enjoying the comfort and security of a loving foster family. Happily, all four of these precious kittens were soon adopted into forever homes where they will receive love and care for life.
It’s amazing how fate brought Kari and Skye together. Kari was captivated by Skye’s story and developed a deep affection for her.
Kari welcomed Skye into her home and now the little one is treated like royalty, surrounded by affection, luxury, and top-notch medical attention for as long as she lives.
Skye is a cheerful dog despite her vision impairment and heart condition. Her joy stems from the fact that she finally has a loving home where she reigns over all the sinks and receives constant affection from her new owners.
