One such feline is Richie, a black smoke Maine coon who has almost 100K followers on Instagram. What makes this charming cat exceptional is the extra fur coat that he seems to be wearing over his own, giving him the appearance of a lemur or a yeti cat. Richie was born in November, and it wasn’t long before he gained popularity thanks to his owner sharing photos and videos on social media. When asked about how they welcomed Richie into their family, the owner shared their story. They had two alley cats for 20 years and wanted to take their time before adopting a new one. They found a local French breeder who specialized in Maine coons and booked a cat. Without knowing much about Richie’s future, they chose a black smoke coat color at birth. However, the breeder noticed something special about Richie – he would be very hairy. The family patiently waited for four months for Richie to grow and develop with his mother and siblings. And now, here he is with his loving owner.
The Maine Coon feline variety develops into quite a sizable creature with a well-built, muscular physique and a broad chest.
Richie is a friendly and inquisitive feline who finds joy in interacting with other cats. He has a unique trait that Maine coons possess, which is being both cat and dog-like. Richie loves to accompany his owners and can often be found following them around the house. His love for company earned him the nickname “sous-chef” because he enjoys watching his owners cook from close proximity. He sits next to the spices and observes their every move, making him an adorable cooking companion.
Similar to other felines, Richie takes great pleasure in dramatically gazing out of windows.

Richie is gaining popularity as a cat influencer on Instagram with his massive fan following. The owner of Richie works with several brands that have been tested and approved by the feline. It’s always exciting for the owner to share new cat toys and accessories with their followers, but they ensure only to recommend items that have received Richie’s seal of approval.

According to Richie’s owner, Maine Coon cats like Richie require regular grooming as their health can be delicate and they need to be listened to and understood. Even something as simple as a cold should be checked immediately. To avoid knots in his fur, Richie is brushed daily as part of his morning routine. In addition, his eyes, nose, claws, and ears are taken care of once a week. Maine Coon cats are known for their extravagant looks as well as their intelligence and devotion to their human family.
