Celine from Chatons orphelins Montreal revealed to Love Meow that she stumbled upon his hideout underneath the stairs and noticed an overwhelming odor and an abundance of flies. She learned from a resident that he had been living outside for several years and preferred to sleep under the stairs. He was apprehensive towards people and did not trust anyone.
Karoline reached out to Nadia, a TNR rescuer, for help in rescuing a cat. Nadia arrived and noticed that the cat was in a bad condition and required immediate medical attention. The cat had scars on its ears due to frostbite and walked with its head down. After a great deal of effort and with the assistance of a kind man who had been feeding the cat, they were able to capture the tabby and take him to the Chatons Orphelins Montreal shelter. They decided to name him Ferdinand Bullion and he was extremely frightened at first due to all the changes around him. According to Celine, Bullion was believed to be around eight years old and was severely malnourished, tested positive for FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus), and had various other health problems such as a badly infected mouth.
Bullion underwent dental surgery to have all of his teeth removed and his matted fur shaved off. As a result, he experienced a significant reduction in pain and was finally able to relax and get some well-deserved sleep. To address his thyroid and stomach issues, he received treatment for approximately one month. Thanks to excellent care, Bullion began to gain weight and his beautiful fur gradually started to grow back. He was even ready to learn how to socialize with others.
Alvin and Morgane, who are volunteers at a rescue center, welcomed him into their home as a foster pet. They devoted enough time to him every day and patiently gained his trust by showing him that they only had good intentions towards him. With lots of treats and a great deal of patience, Bullion gradually overcame his shyness and started cuddling up on his foster carer’s lap, eventually allowing them to hold him in their arms.
Upon his arrival, he displayed a withdrawn and melancholic countenance, exhibiting a lack of trust towards outsiders as a means of self-preservation. Celine expressed to Love Meow that it was imperative for them to demonstrate to him that there was nothing to fear, and that everything was going to be fine. With the tireless efforts of his foster family, he gradually became more serene and at ease, even establishing friendships with other feline companions and slowly shedding his protective shell.
Bullion has been making impressive strides and becoming more self-assured in recent months. He thoroughly enjoys taking naps on the couch and snuggling up with a cozy blanket. Although he is still getting used to playing, he occasionally takes pleasure in frolicking with toys.
At present, Bullion strolls confidently with an air of pride and comfort, spending quality time lounging on the sofa with his cat buddies, and taking pleasure in basking by the window without any anxieties. His past as a stray cat is far behind him, as he is now secure, fit, and leading the luxurious lifestyle he always craved for.
