Joanie, the owner of the property, and her family were well aware of the long and harsh Canadian winters. They quickly provided warm shelters for the cats in the barn, anticipating the tough season ahead. However, they needed help finding new homes for the felines, so they decided to sterilize the mother cat and find housing for her offspring. After reaching out to a shelter that was more than 700 kilometers away and receiving no response, Joanie contacted Chatons Orphelins Montréal for assistance.
According to Celine Crom of Chatons Orphelins Montreal, they were approached by someone who was unable to find assistance for a group of cats in Abitibi. Despite her efforts in contacting vets and shelters, no one was able to lend a hand. Chatons Orphelins Montreal then decided to step up and take in the cats themselves.
A tiny feline strolled into the barn and ended up getting caught by mistake. Unlike his siblings who were wary, this one was named Jules and was a bit shy. However, as soon as Jules received some food and affection, he quickly blossomed and became more confident.
Joanie was still on the lookout for other cats to join her family, when a kind-hearted volunteer came forward and offered to take Jules to a shelter in Montréal where she could receive the care she needed. According to Celine, Jules had a smooth ride to the vet and is now settling into her foster home quite nicely.
As soon as the little kitty crossed paths with Marie-Lyne, her future foster mom, she was showered with love and affection. Jules, the kitten, was thrilled to be cuddled and swaddled by her new caretaker, who didn’t hesitate to spoil her little furball. From being a former barn cat to being treated like royalty, Jules learned to enjoy the finer things in life. Moreover, the kitten also discovered the joys of playing with feather toys and even made some new friends among the resident cats.
After a few days, the vet gave the kittens a clean bill of health. Junot and Jass, who survived the ordeal, were also rescued and taken to safety. They were happily reunited with their brother Jules.
Joanie’s efforts didn’t just stop at rescuing the adorable kittens. She went above and beyond to track down their parents and is currently putting in diligent efforts to have them spayed and neutered without delay.
