It is always a tragedy when shelter dogs must be euthanized, as they receive little affection from their owners. Thankfully, the growing trend of adopting stray dogs and cats is facilitating the placement of more and more of these shelter animals with loving families.
Russ the Pitbull found a loving home in the arms of Kayla Filoon, a 20-year-old Philadelphia animal shelter volunteer who walked dogs. Russ was brought to ACCT Philadelphia, where Filoon works, and it was instantaneous adoration.
According to Filoon, she knew they had a connection as soon as she saw Russ. As evidenced by this photo of Russ being affectionate that Filon’s friend posted on Facebook, he shared the same sentiment! (h/t)
Meet Russ. Who could possibly look away from that adorable face?
For Kayla Filoon, love at first sight occurred. “He arrived as a stray and was severely beaten”
Kayla knew that the shelter would soon be forced to euthanize him because he was balding and emaciated. Then she decided to bring him home and adopt him!
Russ was extremely appreciative and is a very affectionate dog.
He adored cuddling!
Filoon describes him as the “perfect dog.”
One evening, as I’m sitting on the chair doing my homework, he attempts to find ways to snuggle with me.
The Facebook photo that Kayla’s friend took and posted went viral.
Now, animal lovers from around the globe are lavishing Russ with affection.
Sincerely, he is a total cupid.
Filoon has six additional roommates who adore Russ.
Russ required some time to adjust to his new surroundings.
With constant love, care, and ample rest, he recovered quite well.
However, he is now healthy and content!
Kayla hopes that Russ’s story will inspire others to adopt.
