Megan discovered a shocking fact from her husband’s receptionist when she surprised him by bringing his favorite lunch to his workplace. Megan learned that her husband had been acting freely at work by telling everyone that she is only his child’s babysitter.
I just learned that, out of sympathy, my husband has been telling everyone that I am only his child’s babysitter.
How come?
On a typical day, I made the decision to treat my hubby to lunch at his preferred fast food restaurant. Recently, we had both been working long hours and had little free time.
I was thrilled to surprise Ben by paying him a surprise visit to his new office.
As I parked the car, he answered his phone and said, “Hello, honey.” “I’m on the phone right now; I’ll be done soon.”
I just wanted to make sure he was there, not that I actually wanted to talk to him.
I was ecstatic when I stepped out of the car and grabbed the takeaway bag. When Ben and I initially got married, we would frequently meet up on the spur of the moment or surprise each other at work.
It served as the spark that sustained our union.
Ben has a beautiful, contemporary workspace. When I stepped in, the receptionist smiled warmly and said hello.
“Good afternoon,” she exclaimed. “You work as Mr. Link’s babysitter, correct? Exist a problem with the children? Would you rather go straight up with him or should I buzz him?
I almost dropped the grocery bag.
“Pardon me?” With a beating heart, I asked.
The receptionist was perplexed, as like she wasn’t sure if I understood her correctly or if she had misspoken.
“You’re not Mr. Link’s babysitter?” Her smile dimmed as she repeated.
I inhaled deeply as I tried to comprehend what she had said.
I said, “No, I’m not the nanny.” “I’m Mrs. Megan Link, his wife.”
She instantly glanced around to make sure no one else was listening as her eyes became wide with disbelief.
“Oh God,” she said. “I really apologize! I was completely ignorant! Would you kindly accompany me?
I was baffled by her response. She showed me to a secluded area in the lobby furnished with a couch and two leather seats.
“It’s unbelievable,” she cried out.
“What?” I asked, feeling stupid all of a sudden. It was obvious that something was off.
“What is your name?” I enquired.
“Sierra,” she said. But pay attention! Mrs. Link, it is really amazing! According to Mr. Link, he is a single parent. that in order to prevent his children from being left alone after school, he hired a babysitter. He said that since you have been there since the beginning, he is unable to terminate you out of sympathy.
“What?” I said it again, maybe a little too loudly. “How are you certain that he is speaking of me rather than our actual nanny? since we actually do have one.
Sierra claimed, “He showed me a photo and told me to buzz his office if you showed up.”
I had a sick feeling.
“Did he truly say that? Why would he act in such way? I posed the question out loud.
Sierra seemed uncomfortable. She shuffled in her seat as she considered what to say next.
She spoke softly and continued, “I shouldn’t be telling you this, but Mr. Link is quite popular with the women here. Because of his story, he is perceived as unmarried by everyone. I’ve been informed that he’s been seeing a salesperson. They think he’s a hard-working single father who puts in a lot of hours to support his children.
My breathing was labored. It was like to a bad dream.
“And you are positive that my spouse is seeing someone else?” My voice trembled as I asked.
She gave a nod.
Yes, but don’t tell him that I told you, please. The saleswoman is a chatty person. I have heard her say it before. This is not the first time.
Stunned, I stood. Living a double life, my spouse had been cheating on me with his coworkers while feigning to be a single father. The betrayal struck deeply, but then a wave of rage rose.
I had to get even. My spouse had to harm me just as much as he had wounded me.
“Siera, I appreciate you telling me,” I said. “I guarantee that he won’t discover that you sent this.”
The clerk bent forward to answer.
“Tomorrow is the presentation day,” she stated. Mr. Link will be presenting, and it’s for management. That’s the ideal moment to make a statement if you want to.
Her grin was encouraging. Sierra was pushing me to tell my side, to exact my retribution.
How many times have I been duped by my husband?
When I handed her the bag, I said, “Here.” It’s just my spouse’s meal. Have fun with it. And I appreciate it; I know what to do.
Ben didn’t bring up the presentation when getting ready for work the following morning.
“What are your breakfast preferences?” While brewing coffee, I inquired.
“Nothing,” he said to Megan. “I’ll pick up something en route. I wish to avoid being late.
“As you please,” I said. “I intend to rouse the children.”
Ben quickly departed without even saying farewell.
I put on an attire that exuded confidence and professionalism after getting the kids ready and giving them breakfast.
The kids were fastened into the automobile by me.
My youngster said, “Why are we heading to Dad’s office instead of school?”
“Because it will bring good luck to surprise Dad, who has a big presentation today.” Do you not think? I stated.
In the backseat, they clapped. Although they were not fully informed, they had adequate knowledge.
We got here on schedule.
From behind her desk, Sierra nodded and grinned.
Proceed, ma’am,” she said.
Through the conference room’s glass walls, I was able to see my husband speaking to his colleagues with assurance. I didn’t let the kids in until he was completely engrossed.
As I walked in, I said, “Hello, honey.”
The space became quiet. Everybody looked at us.
My spouse’s face became pallid.
With clarity, I said, “Good morning.” “As Mr. Link’s nanny, I’ve been instructed to come here only in the event that something goes wrong with his kids.”
There was an unbearable quiet. The children felt something wasn’t quite right.
“All right, Mr. Link,” I went on. “An event has occurred! Your children’s mother and they have come to realize that their father is a scoundrel and a liar.
At the entryway, I noticed Sierra. She understood to take the kids away when I indicated to her.
“Please proceed,” she exhorted them. “I have donuts waiting for you!”
My gaze returned to the room.
Ben Link is an intruder and a liar. I am not his nanny; I am his wife. He’s not a depressed widower. He is a pitiful man who tries to be someone he is not. When you carry on doing business with him, keep this in mind.
Ben said, “Megan, wait.”
“Nope,” I answered. “Divorce is what I want.” I’ll use my lawyer, or you may use yours. I’m heading to my parents with the kids. I’ve had enough of you.
That’s when I discovered Sierra and my children, prepared to part from Ben and his falsehoods.
How would you have responded in the situation?
