If you’ve ever lived with a roommate who you didn’t know beforehand then you know just how bad it can get because you’re living with a stranger which creates an awkward atmosphere since it’s harder for you to say something to someone who’s a stranger.
This is something that a lot of college students are faced with since most of them are forced to get a roommate or live in a dorm to save some money, so they know best what it’s like to live with a stranger.
It’s not always so bad because that stranger might end up becoming your best friend which is a wonderful thing, but unfortunately, it’s not always like that and those roommates might be your nightmare.
This Reddit user was enjoying her life living alone in her parent’s old house and even though she had to follow some rules, it was all great, until her parents asked her if their friend’s niece could move in for some time.
OP was okay with it and after her new roommate moved in, she explained the house rules and also pointed out 3 areas in her house that she needs clean, the bin with pet food in it, the kitchen island, and the laundry room.
Everything was going well at first but OP had only one issue with her new roommate and that was the fact that she left her things all over the house, including the 3 areas that OP told her about.
She would leave her things wherever she could which drove OP wild and even though she told the roommate about leaving things on top of the bin where the pet food and supplies are, but the issue continued.
After returning home early one day, OP decided to bake and after finding boxes on the kitchen island she snapped and grabbed a garbage bag and filled it with all of her clutter, and left it in her bedroom.
When her roommate came home she was furious that she touched her things and entered her bedroom. OP felt like she did too much so she turned to Reddit for advice.
OP has been living in her parent’s house for the past 5 years, and even though there are plenty of house rules, it was still a great deal
Her parents asked her if their friend’s niece could move in for some time, and OP had no problem with it
The only issue was that the new roommate would leave things all over the house
She got tired of it, so she stuffed her things in a garbage and left it in her room
Living rent free and still disrespectful
Freeloading slob
Justified reaction
Not out of line
Sounds like a good idea
Simple enough
Living with roommates can be the greatest or the worst thing ever, and living with a roommate like this is something I wouldn’t wish on anyone. It’s important to be respectful toward the people you share a living space with.
The people of Reddit said her reaction was justified, but how do you feel about what she did?
