In a scene that looks like it was ripped straight from a sci-fi blockbuster, the “Figure 3” humanoid robot joined Melania Trump to welcome world leaders at the high-stakes “Fostering the Future Together” summit in Washington, D.C.
Just when you thought you’d seen it all, the First Lady took things to a futuristic new level by escorting a high-tech robot through the halls of the White House.
The internet is buzzing over a surreal viral video showing the First Lady gliding down the iconic red-carpeted hallway alongside the humanoid bot on March 25.
Melania Trump certainly made a statement while hosting the global “Fostering the Future Together” summit in the nation’s capital.
In the footage, the unlikely duo made a slow, deliberate approach toward a room full of global dignitaries. Once there, the robot took center stage, addressing the crowd: “Thank you, First Lady Melania Trump, for inviting me to the White House.
“It is an honor to be at the inaugural meeting of the ‘Fostering the Future Together’ global coalition. I am Figure 3, a humanoid robot proudly engineered in the United States of America.”
The robot continued, “I am grateful to be a part of this historic mission to empower children through technology and education. Welcome,” before seamlessly greeting guests in 11 different languages.
Following a round of applause, Melania thanked her robotic companion: “Welcome to the White House, Figure 3. Thank you for joining me on day two of this summit. It is safe to say you are my very first American-made humanoid guest.”
According to Figure, the robotics powerhouse behind the machine, Figure 3 is designed to handle autonomous household chores—everything from laundry and cleaning to doing the dishes.
The First Lady welcomed representatives from over 40 nations, including French First Lady Brigitte Macron, to spearhead a global initiative focused on revolutionizing educational and technological access for children worldwide.
According to reports, Melania Trump believes we could be seeing robots like Figure 3 in our daily lives sooner than we think.
She noted, “The future of AI is personified. It will take human form. Soon, artificial intelligence will transition from our mobile devices into humanoid systems that provide real-world utility.
“Because our world is built for humans, humanoid systems are uniquely equipped to navigate and operate within it. They belong here.”
Melania Trump painted a vivid picture of the future: “Imagine a humanoid educator named ‘Plato.’ Access to classical wisdom—literature, science, art, philosophy, and history—becomes instantaneous. The entire sum of human knowledge, delivered right in the comfort of your home.”
While the initiative has its supporters, the prospect of AI “teachers” has sparked a massive debate, with many critics fearing a “dystopian” shift that could replace human educators.
One user on X voiced their outrage: “Replace teachers with machines? Choosing AI over human educators? This is heartbreaking. We should be fighting for better pay for our nation’s heroes, not replacing them. A truly sad day.”
Another commenter added, “I don’t want a robot named ‘Plato’ teaching my daughter. I want her teacher to be a human being who is paid a living wage and isn’t forced to work three jobs just to survive.”
A third critic weighed in: “It feels like we’re watching a dystopian novel come to life. I never thought I’d see the day where this becomes our reality. It’s surreal.”
