Greka, who lives in Mexico with her mother, Delvia González, is a sweet pitbull who has always had a good relationship with everyone she has come into contact with.

But there was one person, in particular, who Greka chose as her best friend: her grandmother, also called Delvia.

Greka’s owner’s 70-year-old mother was responsible for taking care of the pitbull when her daughter went to work.

Together, they were more than just companions to each other, they spent quality time and made the most of their day.

Much more than a nanny, Delvia became Greka’s best friend.

“They kept each other company and always spent time together, playing catch, and when they got tired, they started watching TV together,” González told The Dodo .

The pitbull couldn’t be in better care, while Delvia couldn’t be in better company.

But unfortunately, González’s mother had diabetes and began experiencing health problems related to the disease.

“My mother had diabetes, and because of it, her vision was affected. She could barely see, so Greka was a support for her,” González said. “When my mother felt unwell or her glucose levels changed, Greka always told me and stayed by her side. She always lay down wherever she was.”

And of course, even in those moments, Greka was there, by her side. Sadly, after spending a few weeks in the hospital, Delvia recently passed away.

“Greka was the first one to come into the emergency room. She was very desperate and worried about her grandmother,” González said.

“We wanted her to know that her grandmother wasn’t coming back, so on the day we buried her, we took Greka to say goodbye. We brought her close to the casket. She cried a lot. She was shaking with sadness, but she understood that her grandmother was resting in peace.”

Greka’s reaction when saying goodbye to her beloved grandmother was far from momentary and Delvia would not be forgotten by her best friend.

She approaches the photo, takes the ball to her grandmother and sits there waiting for her to throw it to her.

González knew this, so he placed a photo of his mother somewhere Greka could always look at it. And that’s what the beloved pitbull has been doing ever since; she hasn’t gone a single day without looking at her grandmother’s photo.

“She’s very sad. She approaches the photo, brings the ball to her grandmother, and sits there waiting for her grandmother to throw it to her,” González said. “I feel my mother with me every time I hug Greka or every time she brings me her ball. Her love for my mother kept us together through this difficult process.”

Recently, the two had a beautiful experience during a walk on the beach. González and Greka received a sign that she was still with them.
