AITA for Staying at a Girl’s Place After She Pa*sed Out Instead of Leaving?

AITA for Refusing to Leave a Passed-Out Drunk Girl Alone and Getting Yelled at by the Girl I Was Talking To?

I (22M) went out to a bar with friends and a girl I’ve been talking to for a few weeks, Molly (23F). After a few hours of drinking, we all agreed to continue the night at a house party. We had taken two cars. I rode with Molly and her cousin, who was the driver.

As we were leaving, Molly and her cousin saw someone they knew inside and told the others to go ahead—we’d catch up. I went over and introduced myself to the guy they were chatting with, but quickly felt excluded and awkward, so I told them I’d wait outside.

On a bench outside, I saw a young woman passed out cold. Her purse was on the ground, and she still had her phone in hand. I checked on her—she reeked of alcohol and clearly had too much to drink.

Molly and her cousin came outside, and I pointed the girl out. Molly said, “So what? She’ll be fine.” I responded that while she seemed fine now, she could easily be assaulted, robbed, or worse if left alone like that. Molly and her cousin were annoyed. They insisted her friends were probably still in the bar.

I went back inside to ask if anyone knew the girl. No one did. I told them this, and they both got visibly irritated. The cousin started the car and said, “We’re leaving with or without you.” Molly got in and asked, “What’s it going to be?” I stayed quiet. Molly began yelling at me, saying I was ruining the night. Then they drove off.

I went back to the girl, grabbed her purse and phone, and asked the bar staff if we could bring her inside. They refused. I stayed with her and tried waking her up, but she was groggy and incoherent. I noticed she had an iPhone, and after a few minutes I used her fingerprint to unlock it. I found a contact labeled “Mom” and called.

Her mom answered. I explained the situation, and she asked me not to leave her daughter alone. Fifteen minutes later, her mom and dad arrived. They both thanked me and offered me a ride home. I declined and took an Uber.

Molly kept blowing up my phone, accusing me of “liking the girl” and ruining her night. So… AITA?

If I was “talking to” a guy who did this, I’d consider it a major green flag. You did the right thing. That girl and her parents were lucky you were there. Molly’s reaction is concerning.

Sounds like you did the decent thing. NTA.

If my husband did what you did, I’d be all over him. Protecting a vulnerable stranger is deeply attractive and the right thing to do.

Your girlfriend said:

She’s jealous of a drunk unconscious girl? That’s pathetic. What if it had been her in that condition?

NTA. You clearly did the right thing. Molly’s behavior is a red flag. Walk away now.

THANK YOU. You may have saved her life. What you did matters. Don’t stop being that guy.

Hopefully Molly sobered up and changed her view. If not, you dodged a bullet. NTA.

If Molly had half a brain, she’d realize you’re exactly the kind of man women want. Compassionate, responsible, decent. NTA.
