For years, Feather lived surrounded by silence. Rescued from a past of neglect, the parrot seemed to have forgotten how to trust. Her song was timid, her wings hesitant at any movement.
Until one day, in 2020, life introduced her to Sophia, a baby with an easy laugh. It was as if, in that moment, Feather remembered what love was .
In the video shared by the Cuddle Buddies profile on Instagram, Sophia’s mother, Stephanie Vito, says she never imagined seeing the parrot act like that.
“Feather treated Sophia like her own baby. If Sophia was crawling, Feather would go straight to her, give her a kiss, and want to be there whenever Sophia was.”
The bird followed the girl’s every move with great affection. When Sophia cried, Feather would come over to comfort her. When she slept, the parrot would nestle beside her crib.
“I trusted her so much, and it was because of the energy she gave off,” Stephanie said. “Oh, is that your little friend?” she would say to the bird, laughing, when she saw the two sharing the same blanket.
Over time, the scenes became routine. Feather had been rejected in the past, but in Sophia she found a new chance for affection.
The two even played the piano together, with Feather dancing happily while the girl searched for the keys.
Today, Sophia has grown up and seems to love all the birds in the world. She lives with pigeons, chickens, and especially with a new feathered friend: Chicken the cockatoo, with whom she plays and talks every day.
The crow who became a nanny
And Feather wasn’t the only bird to form an unlikely bond with a child.
On a farm in Denmark, a crow named Russell appears every morning at the window of Lærke Luna’s house to call little Otto, a blond baby who has barely learned to walk but has already won the bird’s heart.
The friendship began by chance, when Lærke’s husband found Russell injured and rescued him.
“All his bones were showing and he couldn’t fly,” she told Cuddle Buddies.
After recovering, the raven never left. Instead, it visited the house every day, waiting for Otto.
They play together in the garden, and Russell accompanies the boy as he rides his scooter. Sometimes the crow brings pebbles as gifts for his human friend.
“I think he just saw him as a friend,” Lærke said.
Kenton and his unlikely friend
But not every story between birds and children is all tenderness. Some are pure chaos and laughter.
This was the case with little Kenton, who appeared to his father with a “new pet” in his arms. “What do you have there?” the man asked curiously. “I don’t know what it is,” the boy replied.
Apparently, Kenton thought he had captured a chicken. But in reality, he was holding a massive , slightly confused vulture.
The video was shared on Reddit and quickly went viral. Amidst laughter and comments, viewers were captivated by the boy’s natural, carefree reaction, and the vulture’s, which seemed to just be “going with the flow.”
