Anyone who says cats don’t have feelings certainly doesn’t truly know them, proof of this is this kitten who had the best reaction when seeing a photo of his owner.

At the time, the young woman was traveling while the kitten was being cared for by her family. To ease their longing for their owner, the family decided to show the kitten a photo of her on their cell phone to see how he would react.

The kitten recognized his owner from a photo on his cell phone.

Not only did he recognize her, he made a point of rubbing himself against the screen, as if he were physically close to her. This is a gesture that cats often make with loved ones, representing a gesture full of love and affection.

The cutest and most spontaneous scene of all time was filmed by the tutor’s sister-in-law, Mayara Martins, who shared the video on her TikTok profile .

“And I went to show the photo of my sister-in-law who was traveling and this was her cat’s reaction,” Mayara described in the video caption.

The video touched thousands of internet users, especially at parents, accumulating more than 670 thousand views, 120 thousand likes and 1600 comments.

“There are people who have the courage to say that cats don’t care about their owners, cats are extremely passionate and loyal to their owners lol”

“I would come back from wherever I was if I received a video like that”

“This video warmed my heart,” some users commented.

Are cats able to recognize images on screens?

Yes, they can identify their owners on screens. Dogs and cats see differently than humans and typically combine movement, smell, and hearing to complement visual information. They don’t see vibrant colors nor do they have as varied a color palette as humans.

Cats are particularly adapted to low-light situations, so the intense brightness of the latest generation TV and smartphone screens, which are so attractive to people, may not have the same effect on pets.

When pets watch TV or video call, the main difference in dogs’ and cats’ vision compared to humans is perspective and depth.

A finding made by the Pet Care veterinary center indicates that virtual visits (via video call) to hospitalized animals were a much more important resource for the owner than for the pet.

As for the animals, they understood that identifying the sound of their guardian’s voice and not understanding where it is coming from, that is, not being able to find their guardian, can even cause a certain amount of anxiety and frustration.

It all depends on the pet’s surroundings. If they’re alone, this can be detrimental. If they’re with other family members, they may not feel as frustrated, as they have other people they know and identify with nearby. In other words, each case must be assessed individually.
